Public Prosecutor asks Constitutional Court to assess time limit on protests

The Public Prosecutor has appealed a Lisbon Administrative Court ruling that allowed a housing demonstrator to remain in Rossio, Lisbon, overnight until 24 November 2026. The appeal seeks to have the Constitutional Court confirm whether a 1974 law imposing a 00:30 curfew on protests is constitutional, and specifically requests that the appeal have 'suspensive effect', which would invalidate the lower court's authorization while the case is being reviewed.
