Prosecutor warns: 'If the domestic violence victim is not supported at all levels, she will give up'
A public prosecutor in Cascais highlights the critical need for comprehensive, multidisciplinary support for domestic violence victims to ensure they follow through with legal proceedings against abusers. Data from the Portuguese Association for Victim Support (APAV) shows that the number of victims supported rose 11.5% in 2025 compared to the previous year, and has increased 41.7% over the last five years.
