Prime Minister Luís Montenegro speaks to the country to announce new support measures

The Prime Minister is addressing the country this Thursday evening, 2026-09-17, following a Council of Ministers meeting. The government is expected to announce inflation-relief measures including an extraordinary pension supplement (for those receiving up to 1,611 euros) payable in December and a tax reduction for IRS brackets up to the sixth. Additional measures to mitigate rising fuel costs for sectors such as transport, taxis, humanitarian fire associations, and social solidarity institutions (IPSS) are also anticipated.
