Portugal records EU’s biggest house price rise since 2020

A study by the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation reports that house prices in Portugal surged by 41.5% between 2020 and 2025, the highest increase in the EU. National Statistics Institute (INE) data shows the 2025 median house price reached 2,076 euros per square metre, with over half of respondents nationwide reporting that housing costs now impact their ability to cover other household expenses.
