Pensions allow maintaining standard of living in Portugal after retirement, but the poorest should make additional savings
A new OECD Pensions Outlook report identifies Portugal as one of nine countries among 41 analyzed where the public pension for a full-career worker with an average salary replaces at least 70% of their final gross salary. In net terms, taking disposable income into account, this replacement rate exceeds 90% in Portugal, though the report advises those with lower incomes to seek additional savings.
