Home loan stock sees largest annual increase in August since 2003

Housing: Portugal approves fewer projects, but builds more homes in 2026

Between January and July 2026, the number of residential building projects fell by 7.7%, but the total number of housing units licensed rose by 4.5% to 25,854. Bank evaluations for housing grew by 15.2%, and new mortgage lending increased by 11.3% to over 14.5 billion euros.
