Montenegro and 16 EU leaders refuse more cuts to cohesion and agriculture in the budget
Portugal's Prime Minister and 16 other EU leaders sent a letter to the Irish presidency of the Council of the EU urging that the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and cohesion funds be preserved in the upcoming 2028–2034 EU budget. They argue that additional funding for new strategic priorities should come from new revenue sources or debt instruments, rather than cutting these established policies or maintaining current rebate systems for some member states.
