A group of citizens launched a manifesto in Lisbon on 28 October opposing the government's plans to grant suburban rail concessions (specifically Sintra and Cascais lines) to private operators. The signatories advocate for maintaining an integrated public railway company that manages both services and infrastructure to ensure efficiency and reinvestment in less profitable lines.
The government announced a new support package for electric vehicle purchases, covering up to 80% of the vehicle's value, with a maximum subsidy of 15,000 euros (excluding VAT). Eligible recipients include low-income families and residents in areas with poor public transport networks, with an additional 1,000 euros available if a combustion vehicle is scrapped. The government also plans a 50-million-euro scheme for the general population and subsidies for micro-enterprises, heavy sustainable vehicles, and 700 electric buses for low-density areas.
Porto's municipal government plans to convert the Silo Auto car park into an urban logistics centre, build a new bus terminal to complement the Campanhã hub, and consider taking over the management of on-street parking across the entire city.
