Lisbon Metro to increase services for Web Summit 2026

Lisbon Metro will increase frequency on the Red and Green lines between 9 and 12 November to accommodate event participants. A specific 'Web Summit Transport Pass' offering unlimited travel on Metro, Carris, and CP lines (including Sintra, Cascais, Azambuja, and Sado) is available for 72 hours (€23) or 120 hours (€31.50). These passes can only be purchased in person at the Lisbon Airport accreditation area between 7 and 10 November.

Why it matters

If you are travelling in Lisbon between 9 and 12 November, expect higher passenger volumes at Oriente and Alameda stations, and consider that standard public transport tickets remain valid for regular users, including contactless payment on the Metro.

Ban removes 30% of heavy vehicles from Porto's VCI, says minister

The Minister of Infrastructure stated on Wednesday 4 November that the ban on heavy vehicles without a destination in Porto or Vila Nova de Gaia has reduced their presence on the VCI by 30%, with a 60% drop on the Arrábida Bridge and about 3,500 fewer heavy vehicles crossing the Douro overall. The restriction, which began on 15 September, applies on weekdays between 07:00 and 21:00, while the CREP/A41 external bypass remains toll-free. Additionally, Infraestruturas de Portugal will launch tenders in January for improvement works on VCI junctions, and new cooperation protocols were signed with Porto's city council.

Porto airport announces new winter routes

Porto's Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport is adding 24 new or extended routes for the 2026/27 winter season, running until March. The schedule introduces 10 new connections—including flights by Ryanair to Catania, Gdansk, Poznan and Hamburg, and services by Volotea, Wizz Air, TAP and Transavia—while maintaining several long-haul and European summer routes through the winter months, such as New York, Boston, Tel Aviv, Praia and São Vicente.
