A study of 15,000 hospital patients found that adults over 60 hospitalised with Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) face a 18.3% mortality rate and high risks of respiratory failure. The researcher, an internist at the Entre Douro e Vouga Local Health Unit, is calling for the SNS to provide subsidised RSV vaccinations for older adults, which currently cost around 200 euros privately.
