Government moves on Faro floods and Algarve’s mounting waste problem

The government is formalizing two environmental agreements in the Algarve on 30 October. The first tasks the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) with helping Faro Council develop a flood-prevention plan to secure funding via the Sustentável 2030 programme; the second launches a study into new waste treatment solutions to reduce reliance on the region's two main landfills in Portimão and Loulé, which are nearing capacity.
