Electric vehicles no longer exempt from parking fees in Funchal
The Funchal Municipal Assembly approved changes to the municipal tax regulations, ending free parking for electric vehicles. Owners will now pay the full fee but will be reimbursed 50% in the form of parking credit; the discount applies only to individuals and requires a specific municipal identification title displayed on the windshield.
Why it mattersIf you drive an electric vehicle in Funchal, you must pay full parking fees from the date this rule takes effect and register your vehicle with the City Council to receive the 50% credit reimbursement.
