Diesel prices rise more than expected, reaching record highs

The average price of diesel in Portugal reached 2.152 euros per liter this Monday, September 14, 2026, the highest figure on record according to DGEG data. This represents a 3.9-cent increase compared to Friday, September 11, despite government tax relief (ISP) measures that were expected to result in a smaller price hike. Petrol prices decreased by 2.8 cents to 2.072 euros per liter, less than the predicted 4-cent drop.
