Deadline to pay 2025 IRS tax ends today

Today, August 31, 2026, is the final deadline for taxpayers to pay any outstanding IRS tax balance determined by the 2025 income tax assessment. The Tax Authority (AT) was required to complete all tax assessments by July 31 for returns filed within the legal window, and taxpayers with a balance due to the state must settle it by today. Tax debts of less than 25 euros are not collected by the AT.

Why it mattersIf you received a notification from the Tax Authority (Finanças) stating you owe additional income tax for 2025, you must complete this payment today to avoid penalties or interest.
