Coimbra Intermunicipal Transport and CP join intermodal system
Starting October 1, 2026, the Busway intermunicipal network and CP (trains) will integrate into the Coimbra Region intermodal pass system (SIT Metropolitano), which already includes SMTUC and Metro Mondego. Passes are priced at 30 euros for one municipality, 35 euros for two, and 40 euros for the entire regional pass, with additional discounts available for students and veterans. Ticket and pass loading for the integrated system is expected to begin on September 25.
Why it mattersIf you commute within the Coimbra region, you will be able to use a single monthly pass for intermunicipal buses, urban buses, Metro Mondego, and trains starting October 1, potentially reducing your travel costs.
