Civil Protection warns of fire risk from burning and agricultural work
The Civil Protection authority (ANEPC) warned that high temperatures expected through next week increase rural fire danger, bringing strict restrictions on agricultural activities. On days classified as very high or maximum risk, activities such as burning of debris (queimas de amontoados), the use of brush cutters or shredders, and open-air cooking in rural areas are prohibited. Currently, 20 municipalities face maximum fire danger, with over 100 others under very high risk.
Why it mattersIf you live in or are visiting rural areas, be aware that you must refrain from using machinery like brush cutters or performing agricultural burns until the fire risk subsides, as these actions are restricted by law during this high-risk period.
