Can workers take time off to care for their parents?

Portuguese labour law allows employees to take justified absences to provide care for parents and grandparents, but these days are unpaid. Workers are entitled to up to 15 days of leave per year for this purpose, provided it is for urgent or immediate care, and the employer must be notified.
