Autumn begins, but summer temperatures persist with nine districts under warning
IPMA has issued yellow warnings for hot weather across nine mainland districts, with temperatures reaching up to 39°C. Warnings for Viseu, Santarém, and Lisbon are in effect until 18:00 today, while warnings for Bragança, Évora, Guarda, Vila Real, Castelo Branco, and Portalegre remain in effect until 18:00 on Thursday, September 24.
Why it mattersIf you are in one of the affected districts, be prepared for unseasonably high temperatures today and Thursday; stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest hours.
