Algarve tourism boss: ‘Double-digit visitor growth should no longer be the focus’

The president of Turismo do Algarve stated that the region must pivot from chasing visitor volume to prioritizing the economic value the sector provides to local communities. While discussing regional challenges like housing and mobility, the Secretary of State for Tourism announced that funding for regional tourism bodies will increase from 16.4 million euros to nearly 30 million euros this year.
