100,000 fans, 8,000 parking spaces: Portimão’s F1 transport challenge

Organisers expect over 100,000 attendees for the Formula 1 Portuguese Grand Prix at the Algarve International Circuit from 18 to 20 June 2027, with on-site parking dropping from 12,000 to around 7,000 or 8,000 spaces. Plans rely on 184 dedicated buses on race day to carry roughly 62,000 spectators, alongside restricted road access, prioritised public transport, and more distant drop-off zones for taxis and ride-hailing services.
