School directors call for more specialists and greater family involvement to tackle rising school crime

The National Association of Directors of Public School Groupings called for more specialized technicians—such as psychologists and social workers—and greater family involvement following the release of PSP Escola Segura data showing that school crimes, particularly physical assaults and weapon incidents, reached a five-year high in the 2025/26 academic year. Physical assaults rose 10.5% to 1,426 cases, while insults and threats increased 3.1% to 920 cases.
