Portuguese Business Association seeks lower tax burden

The Portuguese Business Association (AEP) is proposing tax reforms for the 2027 State Budget, including a lower 12.5% corporate tax rate for SME mergers, the eventual elimination of the state surtax, and expanded tax deductions for internationalisation and R&D. The association also suggests reducing IRS progressivity, offering corporate tax deductions for employee housing expenses, and setting a 180-day target for the resolution of economic and tax-related court cases.
