Government talks with civil service unions begin with an open door for increases above the agreed 2.3%

Negotiations have begun between the government and civil service unions for 2027 salary updates. While a multi-year agreement currently sets a 2.3% increase, the government has signaled it may be open to higher raises depending on current economic conditions. Unions are demanding increases ranging from 5% to 15% and an increase in the daily meal allowance to 10 euros.
