Government pushes for Lisbon airport to open in 2034

The Portuguese government has asked airport operator ANA to accelerate the timeline for the new Luís de Camões Airport in Alcochete to aim for a 2034 opening, one year ahead of current projections. Achieving this target depends on streamlining environmental and regulatory assessments by government agencies, with a final construction decision expected by the end of the first quarter of 2028.
