EU budget proposal allocates 35.1 billion euros to Portugal, but the Government wants an additional 900 million

The Irish presidency of the Council of the EU proposed a 35.1 billion euro multi-year budget envelope for Portugal for 2028-2034. The Portuguese government considers this a step forward in cohesion funding but is still negotiating for an additional 900 million euros specifically for the Azores and Madeira, matching current support levels for outermost regions.
