Alcohol dependence nearly quadrupled in Portugal, but only 20% are in treatment

The prevalence of alcohol dependence in Portugal has increased nearly fourfold over the last decade, yet only one in five patients is currently receiving treatment. The Institute for Addictive Behaviors and Dependencies (ICAD) is restructuring its alcohol treatment units to offer more flexible, patient-tailored therapeutic programs and improve early detection.
